The American Academy of Sciences and Letters will award the Robert J. Zimmer Medal for Intellectual Freedom to Sir Salman Rushdie on November 8 at its gala in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

At the gala, the Academy will also honor its ten 2023 recipients of the Barry Prize for outstanding achievement in scholarship.
